How to Understand Sora 2

Originally published in Chinese on October 1, 2025. A tool for an ordinary person's imagination Ordinary people are celebrating, because Sora 2 frees most people's idea of what they can create. First, hardware is freed. Most creators depend on external hardware to create, and the phone's camera became the starting point of everyday recording. But the camera carries only the recording function. Sharing takes editing and organizing, and a platform's first step is to attract creators to post on it and then give them tools for broader and more varied content. Making video used to cost a great deal, with location shooting being the obvious case, and editing and other materials cost a lot to produce too. In content creation, Sora 2 frees creators from dependence on outside factors, or cuts the need for source material to a minimum. In that sense it frees production cost. To put it extremely, calling Sora 2 a new camera makes it easier to grasp. Beyond shooting, it is more like a combination of a camera and CapCut (Jianying in China), the video editing app, and to a degree a collection of tools. That collection faces ordinary people, and its limit is no longer hardware capability but imagination. When I think about Sora 2's core value, it is mostly the systematization of tools, tools for ordinary people. Of course, every tool upgrade passes through to the system of content consumption and recasts or removes every middle step of creation. That does not make it a new social platform or content platform.
